Facebook announced during this evening a new function for the application dedicated to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touches, bringing more utility to the hundreds of millions of users who use it daily. The new function is called Like Tips, it being similar to some functions offered by foursquare, and through it we will be able to find out more information about the locations visited. For example, if we check-in in a location visited by other friends, then Facebook will display in the application pictures and information published by our friends from the same location.
From friends' recommendations to information about the places and things that interest you, Facebook helps you connect with the world around you. To better show you this content at just the right place and time, today we're launching a new feature called place tips. Place tips will show you fun, useful and relevant info about the place you're at. Tapping on place tips won't post on Facebook or show anyone where you are.
Facebook Place Tips is tested for now in certain locations around the globe, the recommendations appearing in the upper part of the news feed directly in the application of the American company. Accessing a recommendation will display books with information about the location where we are, but only users who provide access to the GPS location to the application will benefit from this functionality. Considering that we are talking about a function now being tested by Facebook, it will not be visible somewhere in the application nor will it be accessible to everyone, as the main application has not been updated to offer it.
