At the end of this year the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), was involved in a scandal with GT Advanced, the company that was supposed to produce sapphire glass for its iPhones, the scandal ending with the partner's bankruptcy. Apple and GT Advanced jointly built a factory in Arizona to produce sapphire glass, and now this factory will be transformed into a global command center for iCloud.Apple will invest 2 billion dollars over 30 years to realize its project, the American company going to create several hundred jobs.

We're proud to continue investing in the US with a new data center in Arizona, which will serve as a command center for our global networks. This multibillion-dollar project is one of the largest investments we've ever made.

The new global command center will manage all the data centers that the Apple company owns, so that the entire iCloud infrastructure will be controlled through it. 150 permanent jobs will initially be created by Apple in the location, while the factory transformation project will create another 500 temporary jobs. Apple has owned the location since 2013, with approximately 400.000 m², and according to the American company, it will be entirely supported by renewable energy.

Apple has a number of data centers around the world to support its iCloud system along with the rest of the adjacent services, so a building was needed to control everything.
