iPad - the "weak link" in the world of tablets

The first iPad tablet was launched in 2010 by the Apple company, and in a period of 5 years it has evolved from the most desired tablet on the market to a normal product, without much interest for consumers. In general, tablets no longer generate as high sales globally, and according to an IDC study, in 2015 these products could generate an increase in sales of only 2.1% compared to 2014. Looking to the future, IDC estimates that sales of tablets could increase by only 40 million units, i.e. approximately 20% compared to the sales recorded in 2014.

Microsoft is doing a lot of good things right now and we believe the launch of Windows 10 later this year will not only have a significant impact on Microsoft's share of the market, but on the industry as a whole," said Bouchard, Research Director, Tablets. "There is an appetite for a platform that can provide a productivity experience that remains consistent across multiple form factors and device types, and we believe Microsoft is well positioned to capture some of that demand.

According to those from IDC, Android is going to surpass iPad tablets in terms of market share, Apple's product is going to lose no less than $4 of its current market share by 2019. The iPad tablet is presented as the "weak link ” of the future of tablets globally and this cannot be so gratifying for those from Cupertino. Although Apple has continued to update its iPad tablets and will do so in the future, it seems that consumer interest vis-à-vis them is constantly decreasing and only the implementation of truly revolutionary functions will be able to increase it.
