iOS 8.3 beta 3 maintains an important feature

iOS 8.3 beta 3 disable 3G

The release of iOS 8.3 beta brought for users an important function that was removed by the Apple company more than half a year ago, it allows us to disable 3G/4G connections to activate 2G in the necessary situations. Although one Orange Romania's Carrier Bundle Update disables this function and I thought so iOS beta 8.3 3 it will no longer be available, well, it is still present in the Settings, Configurations application.

As you can see from the image above, in the Cellular, Cellular Data menu of the Settings, Configurations application, there is still the option to disable cellular data and choose a 2G/3G/4G connection for use in your iPhones. I have already told you that by intelligently using the 2G option you can increase the autonomy of your iPhone's battery by up to 2 hours in certain situations, so that its presence in iOS beta 8.3 3 it bodes well for us.

Now let me explain a little why the option to activate 2G connections is useful, because some misunderstood the situation. 3G and 4G connections consume a lot of battery power, mainly because the signal is weak, fluctuating, the iPhone constantly searches for it and consumes a lot of battery, especially when I'm sitting at home. Moreover, voice calls made on 2G networks have in many conditions better quality and are not interrupted because 2G coverage in Romania is much better than 3G or 4G.

Now, if you are in a location where Wi-Fi is available and you spend a lot of time there (home, work, school, etc.), activating 2G can seriously improve your battery life. In these situations, don't use 3G/4G anyway, and keeping them active has absolutely no point except to consume your terminal battery, so using 2G is recommended, if you are interested in having as much autonomy as possible.

Having said that, I hope you understand why I recommend using 2G.
