Apple has implemented its own component in the Mac for the first time

Apple controller SSD Mac

The beginning of 2015 brought us three new Mac models from the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, and in one of them those from Cupertino implemented, for the first time, an own component developed based on the purchase more than 4 years ago following an Israeli company called Anobit. In the image above you see this new component used by Apple for 12 inch MacBook and we are talking about a new SSD controller that should offer a serious increase in performance for the Cupertino products.

Having the code 338S00055 written on it and the name Apple SSD AP0512H in the information system of OS X, the new controller surprisingly appears in Apple's Macs, this after years and years in which the American company relied on Toshiba and Samsung to provide such components. Considering that we are talking about an internally developed face Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for 4 years, the American company contracted the partner TSMC to manufacture it, so the Taiwanese do not only produce the A8 and A8X chips dedicated to the iPhone and iPad tablets.

I told you this week that OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 implements NVMExpress technology for the SSDs installed in users' Macs, and the switch to this technology was possible thanks to the change of the SSD controller inside the Apple products. This new technology is specially optimized for PCIe SSDs, the fastest on the market, but the change made now by the Apple company does not apply to MacBook Air 2015 or MacBook Pro 13 inch 2015, so a waiting period will be necessary until its widespread adoption.

The implementation of this SSD controller in the MacBook 12 inch based on a technology bought together with the Anobit company is a new proof of the fact that the purchases made by the Apple company result in important developments for its products, so it remains to be seen what interesting things we will receive future.
