An impressive number of iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches remain without YouTube, find out if you are affected!

Apple TV YouTube not working

Yesterday I told you that from the end of this month YouTube will no longer work for certain iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV owners, the Google company ceasing to provide support for the old application offered natively in iOS that offered these devices access to the video sharing network, the API on the basis of which it works will be completely disabled.

Although nobody officially knows how many iDevices/Apple TVs will no longer be able to use the YouTube application for iOS starting from May, some estimate that approximately 100 million terminals would be affected, this being the number of Apple product models that cannot install iOS 7 to be able to benefit from the YouTube application that has been available in the App Store for almost 2 years.

According to the numbers of sales, we are talking about over 100 million iPhones and iPad tablets, over 50 million iPod Touches and probably 5-8 million Apple TVs that cannot install iOS 7, but considering how many of these would no longer work today, the figure would approach 100 million terminals and not 160, as it appears from a gathering of units sold around the globe.

Although all these terminals will no longer be able to use the dedicated YouTube application to access the video sharing network, the good part is that the Safari browser will not be restricted to view multimedia content, the big problem being with Apple TVs, because they do not have a integrated browser to view YouTube content, so Apple TV 2G owners, the only one affected, will have to make a forced upgrade.

Those from Google announced as early as March of last year that they intend to stop providing support for all these terminals, and here they are, a year later, fulfilling their promise, so that all those who are affected had enough time at their disposal to upgrade or replace their iDevice/Apple TVs with YouTube-compatible devices.
