Samsung: profit decreases, sales increase

Samsung smartphone sales - iDevice.ro

Apple announced its financial results for Q1 2015 at the beginning of this week, claiming that it sold 61 million iPhone terminals worldwide, a record for such a fiscal quarter. Shortly after that, the first estimates regarding smartphone sales appeared Samsung, Koreans managing to sell 83.2 million units worldwide.

With this number of smartphones sold globally, the company Samsung grabbed 24% of the global smartphone market, 6% more than Apple, but unfortunately 8% less than in Q1 2014. Practically, although Samsung sold almost 50% more smartphones than Apple, the figure is lower than the one recorded in Q1 2014, the profit falling as a result for South Koreans.

Samsung Electronics overtook Apple to recapture the title of world's top smartphone maker by volume in the first quarter of 2015, research firm Strategy Analytics said on Wednesday. It said Samsung shipped 83.2 million smartphones worldwide and captured 24 percent market share in the quarter, down from 31 percent a year earlier but better than Apple's 18 percent.

In this idea, in Q1 2015 the Samsung company registered a profit of 5.6 billion dollars, 0.3 billion more than in Q4 2014, but 2.4 billion less than in Q1 2014, the decrease being considerable. The division producing mobile terminals recorded the biggest decrease among all divisions of the Samsung company, from 6 billion dollars in Q1 2014 to 2.6 billion dollars in Q1 2015.

Although those from Samsung are struggling to increase their total profit and that of the various divisions, it seems that for now they cannot match their results from previous years, but the company hopes that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will solve the problems. Those from Samsung hope to sell 46 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge this year and to seriously increase their profits, but it remains to be seen if this will happen.
