Marc Newson sold this chair for a small fortune

Marc Newson chair

Marc Newson is one of Jony Ive's closest friends and one of those who actively participated in the creation of the design Apple Watch, he being the man who created the chair in the picture above, he being sold for a small fortune at an auction. Jony Ive and Marc Newson used to create various objects for charity auctions, and the chair pictured above was sold for no less than 3.7 million dollars.

Although the chair took out an important sum of money from the account of one of the participants of the auction organized in London, Marc Newson admits that it was not designed to be comfortable. It seems that the person who bought it won't feel any great sensation when they try it, but probably won't have the desire to use it anytime soon, considering that they paid a ridiculous amount for it.

The chair was created from aluminum and fiberglass, being part of a collection of 15 similar objects that set various records in the auctions they were entered in over time. To be honest, I can't imagine why anyone would spend $3.7 million on a chair like that instead of donating that amount directly to a charity, or to the victims of the Nepal earthquake, but stupid things happen. .
