Apple wanted to invest in Romania, canceled the project because of the infrastructure

Apple investment in RomaniaApple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), wanted to invest a significant amount of money in Romania in the period 2008-2009, Brasov being the city chosen by the Americans, but the project was canceled after a not very pleasant visit by a vice-president from Cupertino.

According to a real estate developer from Brasov, Silviu Savin, the vice president of Apple traveled the distance of just under 200 KM between Brasov and Bucharest in approximately 7 hours, the unpleasant experience motivating him to recommend avoiding Romania for investment.

Apple would have made the investment through a partner company and this would have required the development of a support center and back-office in our country, but unfortunately the Romanian government has taken care for so many years that many companies avoid us .

The 7-hour journey between Brasov and Bucharest was also possible because of an accident that had taken place in Campina, but at that time the distance between the two cities was much more difficult to travel due to the lack of a belt bypassing the city of Ploiesti and not only that.

Apple wanted to come to Braşo in 2008-2009, and they were stopped by the Bucharest-Braşov infrastructure. A vice-president of the company wanted to come to Braşov, during the period when work was being done on the Ploieşti belt, plus there was an accident in Câmpina that day. It took 7 hours from Otopeni airport to Brasov and that was the end of the project. It would have been the first Apple back-office and support center in Europe"

The truth is that at the moment a Brasov - Bucharest road is possible in about 2 hours, plus or minus, but if we talk about weekends, then this period triples, in the best cases, so not much has changed .

Unfortunately, many large companies wanted to invest in our country over time and create jobs, but many gave up on projects due to the lack of highways, and in the case of Apple it was about the same thing, at least in the basis of what we are told now.

The information presented here was never provided by the Apple company or by any of its partners, so we just have to take the real estate developer from Brasov at his word.
