According to a local publication, the locals are worried because of the noise and vibrations produced by the 18 generators that will provide energy, but also because of the intensification of traffic in the area during and after the completion of the construction.

Apple intends to invest 850 million dollars to build a data center of approximately 8000 square meters, which will be supported with renewable energy, 100 new jobs will be created for it.

The local residents filed a complaint with the local council of Galway, the area where the data center will be built, arguing that the area is at a great distance from important cities, without quick access to various maintenance services, the plan being at the same time in contradiction with the one created by the municipality to develop the area in the next 6 years.

Group of locals oppose planned location of new €850 million complex near Athenry. Apple has chosen the "wrong site" for its proposed €850 million data center near Athenry, Co Galway, according to a group of residents who have objected to the planning application.

Although the area is located at a great distance from cities, this is precisely what attracted Apple, as it needs an open area for solar panels and possibly access to water to produce renewable energy, so it will be interesting to see how it will respond critics of the locals.

Until Apple provides an answer, the municipality decided to suspend a meeting regarding the approval of Apple's request to build its data center in the area, so the entire project could be postponed or even canceled.
