Nokia HERE MapsA few weeks ago I told you that a group of German car manufacturers intends to acquire the Nokia HERE Maps platform to implement it in their own cars and today the announcement was made officially.

A German consortium of car manufacturers consisting of Daimler, BMWand Audi they will buy Nokia HERE Maps with 2.8 billion euros, an amount considered fair for everything offered by the platform developed by the Finnish company.

Those from Nokia it is expected to remain with a net profit of 2.5 billion euros, but that only in the course of next year, because the acquisition would be completed only in the first fiscal quarter of 2016, the transaction to be approved by the European authorities.

Nokia HERE Maps is an extremely complex mapping system through which Nokia managed to convince the whole world that it is able to compete effectively with Google, it being seen as having a much greater utility even than the Apple Maps created by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),.

Given that Nokia HERE Maps it is better than Apple Maps, some said that Apple could buy the platform of the Finns, but finally the car manufacturers have joined forces to acquire it and implement it in cars in the future.

No one knows how long it will take until Nokia HERE Maps officially arrives in the cars of the three big manufacturers, but probably in 2017 we will see the first cars that have the maps and online systems of the former Nokia platform.
