Apple wins a lawsuit related to iMessage functionality

iMessage processDuring the last year the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), was sued by a group of iDevice owners who were upset because they no longer received messages on their mobile phones after leaving the iOS platform.

More precisely, their phone numbers were registered in iMessage and when they received messages from friends, they came through the Apple system, but when users switched to the Android platform, their numbers remained registered in iMessage and the messages sent by friends did not actually reach them.

Apple launched a web page advising users to disable iMessage before selling an iPhone to remove the phone number from the system, but chose to file a lawsuit over it anyway, but it was dismissed today by a US judge .

The judge decided that the trial cannot continue because the users did not prove that Apple violated its contractual obligations by failing to prevent such a problem from occurring, so that it is not responsible for the users' problems.

Apple Inc. won a ruling beating back a group lawsuit sought by a former iPhone user who claimed the company's messaging system interfered with the delivery of texts after she switched to an Android-based smartphone. The ruling is a win for Apple because allowing the case to proceed stood to increase the iPhone maker's potential costs in defending the case.

Today's decision can be categorized as a victory for the Apple company, because its lawyers managed to convince the judge of the lack of sufficiently solid evidence to support the plaintiffs' claims, so that Apple will not have to invest money in defending itself.
