Apple is looking for a location to test its future electric car

Apple electric carProject Titan is the name of the project through which the company Apple is developing an autonomous electric car and although it was thought that it would be ready only in 2017 or 2018, here things are advancing much faster than even Apple planned.

The American company is already looking for a location to test its autonomous electric car, GoMentum Station being apparently chosen by those from Cupertino, this former naval base being used by some manufacturers of autonomous cars to test their products in the past.

Apple has already discussed with the administrators of the location to rent it in order to test the autonomous electric car and would be interested in scheduling the first tests without interfering with other car manufacturers who are testing their vehicles there.

Apple has hired people from various large car manufacturing companies and it seems that their participation in Project Titan has contributed to a significant reduction in the development time of Apple's electric car, which is apparently ready for the first tests.

Correspondence obtained by us shows Project Titan is further along than many suspected and the company is scouting for test locations. Apple is building a self-driving car in Silicon Valley, and is scouting for secure locations in the Bay Area to test it. In May, engineers from Apple's secretive Special Project group met with officials from GoMentum Station, a 2,100-acre former naval base near San Francisco.

The discussions held by Apple engineers with GoMentum representatives took place in May, so there are chances that the car will be tested even at the moment there, although this seems hard to believe considering the interest of many companies vis-à-vis of location.

Even so, if Apple is already ready to do the first tests for the system that automatically directs the car on the road, then it is clear that the project is in an advanced stage of development, but it remains to be seen what else we will learn about it.

Apple negotiated with BMW to use the body of the BMW i3 in the idea of building his own car, but the initial discussions failed, but they could be resumed especially since Apple is already ready to test its car guidance system.
