More specifically, Tim Cook he was praised for having the courage to admit in front of the whole world that he is of homosexual orientation, he being the leader of one of the most popular and powerful companies on the planet, the announcement having a major impact in various corners of the planet.

For this action and many others, Tim Cook was awarded and was praised including by the American vice-president Joe Biden for the courage he showed in supporting such a controversial cause all over the world.

Plenty of colleagues at Apple know I'm gay, and it doesn't seem to make a difference in the way they treat me. Of course, I've had the good fortune to work at a company that loves creativity and innovation and knows it can only flourish when you embrace people's differences. Not everyone is so lucky. People need to hear that being gay does not give you limitations in life.

At the award ceremony, Tim Cook gave a speech of a few minutes in which he spoke about the importance of respecting human rights and respecting the right to equality, stating that all gay people must know that if they publicly acknowledge this, they will not have limitations in life.
