Electronic tattoos will communicate with the iPhone

tattoo wireless communicationIf you like sci-fi movies, well today I have interesting news for you because a US company is developing a new type of tattoo that is able to communicate with smartphones or tablets.

The technology behind it is explained in the video clip below Tech Tats and basically we are talking about a tattoo made with paint capable of conducting electricity, a series of circuits being drawn on the skin, they make the connection between certain chips that communicate with applications for smartphones or tablets.

Developed to be used for the purpose of monitoring patients in hospitals or other similar institutions, these tattoos are temporary because the paint used is erased, but they eliminate the need to use larger accessories.

Using electronic tattoos, doctors can quickly find out information about a patient's state of health, the data being synchronized with an iPhone, for example, and from it they are transmitted to the doctor by email or any other method of communication via the Internet.

Called biowearable, these electronic tattoos are the natural evolution of current wearables, because in the future a simple tattoo of this kind will replace a biometric monitoring bracelet or a smartwatch, so users will have less to wear with them.

Tech Tats are what we've dubbed biowearables: wearable technology that isn't just, say, strapped to the user's wrist, but interacts WITH their wrist. (In this case, in the form of a tattoo.) In other words, you're eliminating clunky, expensive devices with a low-interference, low-cost, and low-hassle alternative, and using the user's skin as the interface.

Although the idea behind this project is extremely interesting, it is currently in full development and it is not known when or if it will be released to the general public, so it remains to be seen to what extent the company will succeed in completing its plans.
