The US military refuses Google robots

Google army robotSome of you probably know that Google bought Boston Dynamics, a company specialized in robotics, a few years ago, but what many people don't know is that a few years ago Google signed a contract with the US Army to develop robots for it.

These robots were supposed to help the marines with equipment of over 100 KG in the missions carried out in various areas of the globe, those from Google were supposed to deliver the first units in 2015, but the army decided to give up the collaboration because the robots produced too much noise .

In the image above you see one of these cart robots that has the name Legged Squad Support System (LS3), it being developed based on an engine that works with fuel, the noise produced in motion being able to reveal the location of the marines on mission.

The US Army offered Google contracts worth 42 million dollars to develop this robot that could carry equipment and even respond to voice commands, but in the absence of tangible results it decided to stop funding the project, at least publicly.

As Marines were using it, there was the challenge of seeing the potential possibility because of the limitations of the robot itself. They took it as it was: a loud robot that's going to give away their position. We tend to play with things that are fanciful and strange,

Because this robot was not to the liking of the army, the people from Google developed a second prototype that worked only on electricity, but although it was very silent, it could not work by itself, so the army decided not to use it in any way.

Although apparently those from Google spent the money of the American army without producing any results, we will find out the reality only in a few years if we see this type of robots, or others similar, used in the wars waged by the USA.
