Apple bought the company Emotient

Apple buys EmotientApple bought the company Emotient for an undisclosed amount, but the purchase is an extremely important one because it could be the basis for the implementation of some extremely interesting functions for our iDevices.

Emotient is a company that develops artificial intelligence capable of analyzing people's faces and telling what kind of feelings/reactions/emotions a person has at a certain moment or another, all based on an extremely complex algorithm.

The technology from Emotient has so far been used by advertisers to see what are the reactions of users when viewing advertisements, but doctors have also used it to some extent in medicine, so it has extremely extensive applications.

The website of the Emotient company along with all the information related to it disappeared after the purchase made by the Apple company and some of its employees are going to be integrated into one of the divisions of those in Cupertino where they will continue their work.

Apple Inc. has purchased Emotient Inc., a startup that uses artificial-intelligence technology to read people's emotions by analyzing facial expressions. It isn't clear what Apple plans to do with Emotient's technology, which was primarily sold to advertisers to help assess viewer reactions to their ads. Doctors also have tested it to interpret signs of pain among patients unable to express themselves...

Apple confirmed the purchase, but of course it did not say what it intends to do with the Emotient technology, but the first thing that comes to mind is a facial recognition system for unlocking iDevices and offering functions based on facial expressions.

Separately, Apple could use the technology together with the Apple Watch or its Macs, the applications being practically unlimited, but we must not forget the electric and autonomous car that Apple is developing and which could benefit from such technology.
