Smartphones could have screens that change their shape

I don't know how many of you will be interested in the technology that we will talk about next, but it could allow smartphone screens to change their shape and display various objects in relief right on their surface.

In the image above you can see a concept of a tablet whose screen is capable of creating Braille characters in relief for the visually impaired, the technology behind it being amazing and capable of changing the world of smartphones, as we know it.

In order to be able to display characters in relief on the screens of smartphones or tablets, the technology is based on microfluids and a pneumatic system, the researchers who created it using liquid or gas to modify the surface of the screen and display characters in relief.

As you can see from the video clip below, the shape of the characters can change extremely quickly, so there are practically no limitations regarding what can be displayed on the surface of the screen, so theoretically any kind of shape could be visible to users.

Promising a device that is no thicker than a normal smartphone or tablet, the researchers claim to have created a multi-layer screen that is capable of displaying characters exactly as you see in the clip, the technology itself being impressive for a mobile terminal.

A team of researchers from the University of Michigan created this technology and of course it is very far from being implemented in mobile terminals, so users will have to wait a few years until it could be available to the general public.
