How much will the iPhone 8 cost if Donald Trump is elected president

This week Donald Trump stated that intends to force Apple to make its products in the USA and not in China, as is currently happening, this change will substantially increase the production costs of Apple devices and implicitly the final sale price.

To see what impact such a decision could have on the selling prices of the iPhone 8, which will be launched in 2018, someone thought to do some calculations regarding some of the costs that Apple might have.

The calculations started from the fact that the salaries of employees who assemble iPhones would be double or triple in the US compared to China, depending on the state in which the assembly takes place, but this only if the employees would work on the minimum wage in the economy, something that will not happen.

However, if Apple were forced to assemble the iPhone 8 in the US, taking into account the higher wages of employees and all the costs associated with manufacturing in the US, then The iPhone 8 could cost twice as much as the iPhone 6S, i.e. $1300 and this is a conservative estimate.

In reality, the price could be much higher and in this situation Apple would prefer not to sell smartphones in the US than to sell them at laptop prices, but of course it will never reach such a situation.

As an alternative for assembly in the USA, Donald Trump proposed the application of a tax of 35% of the sales price for products manufactured in other countries, and in this situation an iPhone 8 16 GB would have a basic price of 877 dollars, much too large to be acceptable.

Although Donald Trump is trying to get political capital by attacking Apple, I don't know how many will believe him capable of forcing a company to lose money just to manufacture products in the USA.
