Analyzing the figures reported by the big companies around the world regarding research and development expenses, a graph shows us that in a top 20 of the companies that invest the most money, the Apple company is only placed in the 18th position, at a great distance by Samsung, for example.

Koreans from Samsung invested 14.1 billion dollars in research and development in 2015, with 1.2 billion dollars less than those from Volkswagen, this while Intel and Microsoft invested 11.5 and 11.4 billion dollars respectively, colossal amounts for such a field.

Those from Google occupies the 6th position in the top with investments of 9.8 billion dollars in research and development, 50% more than the Apple company, this is also because there are several projects under development at the moment in Mountain View and other regions around the globe.

Apple research and development

Although the Apple company is in the 18th position in the top, for the first time those from Cupertino have reached this rather select list of companies that invest at least 5.6 billion dollars in research and development projects, other smartphone manufacturers or operating systems for them not being present in the top.

Considering that Apple collects over 200 billion dollars annually from the sale of its products, the amount invested in research and development is very low, and this says a lot about the way those from Cupertino think about their projects for new products.
