Windows Phone has surpassed iOS in Romania

Windows Phone has a higher market share than iOS in Romania, or at least that's what a study carried out on the smartphone market by Gfk tells us during 2015, Microsoft managing to overtake Apple on the Romanian market last year.

According to data from Gfk, Windows Phone has a market share of 5% in Romania, 0.4% higher than iOS's 4.6%, the difference between the two platforms being minimal in practice, but important from the point of view of the platforms' prestige.

Windows Phone managed to grow in 2015 in satisfied Romania better sales of mobile terminals that have much lower prices than iPhones, mobile phone operators helping Microsoft to sell more in our country in 2015.

Blackberry still has a market share of 1.4% in Romania, the three platforms having a combined market share of 11%, the rest of 89% being attributed to the Android platform which dominates our country without the right of appeal, as it does throughout the world.

Low prices win

Android terminals are very cheap and mobile phone operators or online stores sell them very well, so it was normal for Android to have a huge market share in our country, it can exceed 90% by the end of 2016.

Exact figures regarding smartphone sales in Romania were not provided, nor estimates regarding active terminals on various platforms, so we do not know exactly who has what and what, but iOS is at a serious disadvantage in our country, and here comes Apple's disinterest in us.

With a market share of 4.6% in Romania for iOS, we cannot expect Apple to give us too much importance, not even to invest in increasing sales because it has no serious reason to do it in a country with power of small purchase at national level.
