The black market of Netflix accounts

Netflix it is by far the most popular video streaming service in existence at the moment, and this popularity has brought it to the attention of hackers from all over the world, so now there is a black market of Netflix accounts from which a lot of money is made.

According to Symantec, Netflix users are extremely easy to be fooled by phishing attacks, hackers taking their login details along with information about the credit card used with that account, and from here on things become simple for them.

Un Netflix account is sold for only 0.25 dollars on the black market, hackers selling accounts in packages of at least 4, but for those interested in more there is the possibility to buy lifetime access to Netflix for only $30 instead of a minimum of 96 dollars annually.

According to Symantec, hundreds of thousands of Netflix accounts have already been compromised by hackers so far and sales are going pretty well since they haven't stopped trying to trick users into giving them access to account data.

There is an underground economy targeting users who wish to access Netflix for free or a reduced price. The products could even allow customers to open their own illegal stores. Another offering includes Netflix account generators. The accounts created through these tools may come from stolen Netflix subscriptions or payment card details.

Considering the fact that Netflix continues to grow in popularity and that there is a growing demand for stolen accounts and access to the services offered by the company, there is a possibility that in a year we will be talking about millions of accounts put up for sale by hackers.
