Bill Gates supports the FBI in the fight against Apple

Bill Gates, co-founder of the company Microsoft, stands up FBI in the fight he leads with Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for unlocking an iPhone used by two terrorists before a bloody attack that resulted in the death of 14 people and the wounding of 22 others.

Bill Gates says that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), can access data from that iPhone held by the FBI even if it is blocked, but that it refuses to provide to the federal agency, the former CEO of Microsoft comparing the situation to that of a bank that refuses to provide information about a customer's account.

More than that, Gates says that there are benefits in giving governments access to data from operating systems for electronic products, but that there should be very strict rules that limit government agencies' access to this data.

Bill Gates also says that these rules should be discussed from country to country to protect users from abuses by the authorities, but of course this will not happen because carrying out procedures of this kind would be extremely complicated and time-consuming .

This is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case.

Given that Microsoft has been providing almost any kind of data to the American authorities for years and that Windows users are monitored very carefully by the company, we should not be surprised by this kind of information.
