Apple continues to grow on the PC market

Although the first fiscal quarter was not a very good one for the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, its market share in the PC segment increased slightly against the background of serious decreases in the sales of competitors, the situation being one encountered in the past in the case of the Apple company.

In Q1 2016, Apple sold, according to analysts' estimates, 4.466 million Macs, compared to 4.560 million in Q1 2015, the decrease in sales being 2.1%, but the market share of those from Cupertino increased by 0.7% based on the decline in global PC sales.

According to analysts' estimates, in Q1 2016 60.6 million PCs were sold worldwide, the figure being 11.5% lower than that recorded in Q1 2015, with Apple managing to remain on top of everyone with a slightly smaller decrease in sales of Macs.

Although Apple's market share increased during a period marked by a significant decrease in sales, those from Dell had a better situation, their market share increased by 1.5% based on a 2% decrease in total sales.

Worldwide PC shipments totaled 60.6 million units in the first quarter of 2016 (1Q16), a year-on-year decline of 11.5%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker. Shipments were in line with conservative expectations for a decline of 11.3%, and anticipated a relatively weak environment during the first half of 2016 as Windows 10 enterprise upgrades largely remained in pilot phase while consumer demand remains weak. The volatility in stocks, commodities and currencies also helped depress shipments.

If you look at the image below, you will see that, apart from Apple and Dell, the rest of the PC sellers recorded a decrease in sales of at least 8.3%, the companies in the cumulative category recording an average decrease of 19.8% in PC sales .

Apple remains in the fourth position in the list of the biggest sales of PCs in Q1 2016, in front of those from Lenovo, HP and Dell, ASUS closing this top 5.
