Apple has hired a key person from Tesla

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), si Tesla they are in a full employee exchange war, each of the two companies managing to convince engineers or managers of the opposing company to join them in the projects regarding the development of electric and autonomous cars.

Today we find out that Apple managed to hire Chris Porritt from Tesla, the former vice president of the mechanical engineering division for automobiles, he also occupied the role of chief engineer within the Aston Martin company in the past, so he has a vast experience behind him.

Chris Porritt he is now part of the Apple team that develops special projects, and according to today's source, he would replace Steve Zadesky, the man who until a few months ago led the division that developed the Apple car.

Porritt started his career at Land Rover in 1987, occupying after 10 years the position of chief engineer of the division that analyzes vehicle dynamics, in the same year he left the company for Aston Martin, where he was chief engineer until 2013, when he switched to Tesla.

At Tesla, Porritt worked on the Model S, Model X and Model 3 before leaving the company last year, but there was a few months between leaving Tesla and joining Apple where he probably wanted some peace and quiet before to get involved in a new complex project.

Apple hired former Tesla Vice President of Vehicle Engineering and former Aston Martin Chief Engineer, Chirs Porritt, to work on "special projects". We can confirm that some senior Apple engineers will be reporting directly to Porritt.

Although within Apple, Porritt has the role of Special Projects Group PD Administrator, multiple senior engineers are under his direct management, so he probably directs the largest part of the project for the development of the electric car of those from Cupertino.

Apple hired many Tesla engineers and managers in the last year, but Tesla did the same thing with Apple people, so each company lost and gained important or less important people, having the role of developing the electric cars of the future.

Yesterday I told you that Apple has a secret laboratory in Berlin with people employed by established car manufacturers, but also that there are discussions with a company that assembles BMW cars to assemble the future Apple car.
