Apple Watch is no longer interesting for developers

Developers no longer launch applications for the Apple Watch because they do not generate income and the watch cannot run independently of the iPhone.

Launched with much fanfare last year, Apple Watch it no longer generates that much interest from application developers, the product older than 1 year being forgotten by those who focus more on iPhone, iPad or even Apple TV.

According to a company that has a database of over 100.000 registered developers, for every 1000 iPhone or iPad apps released, there are 10 apps for tvOS and only one for Apple Watch, the discrepancy being enormous.

The main problem of the developers lies in the fact that Apple Watch cannot run applications created for it by itself, they have to be run through the iPhone, so the developers prefer not to bother with such a stupid way of thinking.

Although Apple Watch was launched with several hundred available applications, their number growing very quickly to several thousand, the enthusiasm of application developers disappeared very quickly because the smartwatch does not work independently of the iPhone.

On a weekly basis we're seeing very few Watch apps, compared to iOS apps. For every 1,000 new iOS apps being built, there are 10 tvOS apps and maybe 1 Watch app. Apple published a road map, to be able to run independent apps, and that's a big deal.

The problem is that Apple Watch apps don't generate money, and if they don't generate money, they don't attract the interest of developers who don't see any reason to waste time building something that people won't pay a penny for.

It speculates that Watch Apple 2 it will work independently of the iPhone for many actions, including running applications, and for it developers could find the motivation to make great applications again, but it remains to be seen what we will see when the watch is released.
