In an unexpected change of strategy, the Netflix company is preparing to offer users from all over the world the opportunity to watch offline the movies available in its multimedia library, this function being requested by many people, but being contrary to the idea of online streaming.
According to some sources inside some partner companies of Netflix, the Americans are currently developing a function that allows users to download the movies they want and view them when an Internet connection is not available, Amazon already offering a similar facility for its customers.
Practically, after the implementation of this change, users will be able to download movies or episodes of a series before starting to watch it, or while watching it and they will be able to watch that multimedia content even when traveling far from a Wi-Fi Hotspot or signal Strong enough GSM.
The new function is currently under development and will have to be tested before being implemented, the main problem being the protection of movies or episodes after downloading so that users do not distribute the content without restrictions through torrent networks.
We know from our sources within the industry that Netflix is going to launch this product. My expectation is that by the end of the year Netflix will be launching download-to-go as an option for their customers. It's a natural progression for Netflix to want to have some of their content available for consumers to watch offline, and we've been hearing for months now that they are in fact going to roll something out soon.
Those from Netflix have never rejected the idea of implementing such a functionality for their service, but at one point they stated that offering too many options for viewing the content could generate confusion among users, something that no one wants.
However, those from Netflix are going to offer the possibility to download movies or series episodes for viewing without having an active internet connection and all that remains is to wait until everything is officially available to everyone, and from then on Netflix content will reach the Internet more easily.
