The German police searched the houses of the citizens because of the comments left on Facebook

Today the police in Germany initiated a series of home searches for 60 people who published comments in the social network Facebook, they are accused of publishing anti-Semitic, xenophobic, or extremist content, 14 provinces of the German state being part of the operation.

No less than 40 criminal investigation files have been opened by the German authorities against the targeted persons and we are talking about one of the largest operations of this kind, especially since they are based on comments left in private groups of the social network Facebook.

Lately many people in Germany have started to harshly criticize the immigration crisis after the country accepted over 1 million people seeking political asylum, many of them becoming extremely violent with German citizens, so it was normal for the locals to start discuss protests or violence.

Even so, this is the first time that the police in Germany carry out an action of such magnitude based only on comments made within Facebook, a special operational group within the Ministry of Justice monitoring the activity of Germans within Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

"The action carried out today shows that the authorities are acting firmly against hate on the internet, which has grown considerably in the wake of the refugee situation. Attacks on refugees are often the result of radicalization, which begins on social networks. These words should not poison the social climate."

Germany has accused these social networks of moving too hard in deleting inappropriate content from their own websites, so now the police in Germany are trying to combat the radicalization attempts of its citizens with home searches and most likely pecuniary or privative sanctions of freedom.

Germany is one of the countries where human rights are strictly protected no matter where in the world a person comes from, so actions of this kind should not surprise anyone and there are quite high chances that they will be repeated in the not too distant future.
