Pegatron replaces workers with robots in factories

Pegatron is one of Apple's partners that assembles iPhone terminals and some iPad tablets, and according to some information that appeared during this day, the company hired fewer people this fall to fulfill its contractual obligations towards Apple, relying more a lot on robots.

Those from Pegatron stated that they have automated some production lines to reduce the number of people employed in the factories, the change substantially reducing the headaches with low wages, unpaid overtime, robots being able to work non-stop every day to assemble Apple terminals .

Thanks to the automation of the production lines, Pegatron managed to reduce to a fifth the number of people needed to maintain production at the same level as in previous years, and the number of current ones will continue to decrease in the future as more automated lines are added will be open.

Foxconn adopted the same strategy a few months ago and this allowed him to substantially reduce the costs in the factories without reducing his production capacity, the automation of the production lines allowing the elimination of human errors and the increase, in the future, of the production flow thanks to the fact that the robots can work non-stop.

Pegatron Technology chairman TH Tung has commented on China-based media reports that Pegatron's factory in Shanghai, China has recruited fewer workers than in 2015, saying that Pegatron has adopted Industry 4.0 concepts to automate production at the factory to reduce workforce while maintaining output. Tung pointed out that the company's plants in Shanghai will be able to produce 100 workers in the past with only 20 workers through automation.

For now, Pegatron has automated a good part of the factory located in Shanghai, but there are quite high chances that the same thing will happen in other factories in China in the very near future, and operating costs will decrease significantly for the Chinese.
