Unsupported video format error on iPhone and iPad

An error that we have not yet discussed on iDevice.ro, but which has probably been displayed on the terminals of some of you, is called Unsupported Video Format and is displayed in the format below when you try to play a video clip that your terminal refuses to play.

As you can see, the error below tells us that iOS cannot play that video clip because the format in which it was saved is not recognized by the operating system, but the error is not only related to video clips copied by to you in your terminals from various sources, including iTunes.

Normally, the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch are capable of playing any kind of video clips in MPEG-4 format, i.e. all those that have the extensions .mp4, .purple si .m4v, but there are a variety of applications that extend the file support as well .avi, . Mkv and a variety of other formats, but native iOS will not be able to play them.

Unsupported Video Format error

Normally Unsupported Video Format error appears when you try to play a video clip that has a different format than .mp4, .mov and .m4v, but if you made a video clip that occupied the entire space of your terminals, you will see this error when you try to see it, although it is saved in the standard format.

In the second situation, you don't really have anything to do but free up space, and there is a good chance that that video clip can only be viewed within the limit in which it could be saved, if the file was not corrupted during saving due to lack of space, so you have to be careful when recording video clips.

For the rest of the video clips whose format is not supported, you can always download them the VLC application, this offering support for almost any kind of video format that you can copy to your iDevices, so you don't have to convert the movies, as happened in the past.
