Pinterest bought Instapaper

Pinterest bought Instapaper and will implement the platform's functions in its own services dedicated to users around the world.

Pinterest bought Instapaper in a surprising move for the whole world, the combination of the two networks could be the key to success for the American company. Instapaper was bought 3 years ago by Betaworks from Marco Arment, and how Pinterest bought it from the first and will offer new functions for the users of its platform.

Instapaper is an application launched many years ago to save and organize important articles from the web in an easy-to-use format. Apple implemented in Safari a function called Reading List, but Instapaper kept its popularity, making the transition from a paid application to a free one, attracting more users.

Pinterest engineers say that Instapaper will not change following this acquisition, but Pinterest will definitely want to make some changes in the future. For now Pinterest sees the acquisition as an opportunity to offer new features to its users, but for now no one knows what those might be.

Instapaper will be integrated into Pinterest, but will continue to function as a separate application, and its functions will be integrated in the future in the Pinterest app. No one knows in what form these will be available, but probably Pinterest will find a good way to integrate Instapaper within the functionality created for the Pinterest application.

In an article published on the Instapaper blog, the application's employees said the following "For you, users and customers of Instapaper, nothing will change. The Instapaper team will be moving from Betaworks in New York to Pinterest's headquarters in San Francisco, and from there we will continue to make Instapaper the perfect place to save and read articles from around the web.".

Basically, things should remain the same for Instapaper after it was bought by Pinterest, but this in the short term, because in 1 or 2 years there is a possibility that the new owners will have completely different ideas about the future of the two platforms and their functions.
