UBER announced during this day a reduction in prices in Bucharest, the service becoming cheaper than taxis, at least at first glance. According to UBER representatives, the new price per KM charged by its cars will be 1.3 LEI instead of 1.45 lei, while a taxi charges 1.39 LEI/KM in Bucharest.
We are talking about a reduction in UBER prices by 15 money, and although the change seems small, we are talking about a psychological threshold established by the company for its customers. More precisely, starting today, UBER is cheaper than the taxi in Bucharest, but only in terms of the price per kilometer, because the rides are charged differently by UBER.
Moreover, those at UBER can increase the prices per kilometer charged for cars at any time, so that in busy periods they can be 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 times higher than normal. To the same extent, those from UBER also have a minimum rate of 8 lei per ride, something that does not happen in the case of a regular taxi from Bucharest.

Those from UBER have also reduced the price per kilometer charged for cars that transport people, so that now we will pay 22 money per minute instead of 26 money. The difference in this situation is much smaller, but even so, we are talking about a cheaper service, and large amounts can accumulate over time, if you use UBER often.

The price reduction also comes with a change in the rules regarding accepted cars, so that now the service also accepts cars up to 15 years old, although previously the limit was 10 years. In this idea, there are high chances of getting an older car when you travel with UBER, but at least you will do it at a lower price than before.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see what will be the reaction of the taxi drivers after UBER reduced the price per kilometer traveled, the competition will be even fiercer between the services.
