Downgrade iOS 9.3.5 demonstrated with Prometheus

iOS 9.3.5 downgrade is demonstrated with a software called Prometheus, the solution working on an iPhone 5S terminal with a 64-bit chip.

Just a few days before iPhone 7 launch, here we see what could be a strong blow for the Apple company, more precisely a possible downgrade solution. In the video clip below you can see how iOS 9.3.5 is downgraded to iOS 9.3.2, which normally should not be possible in one form or another.

An iPhone 5S terminal goes through this downgrade procedure from iOS 9.3.5 to iOS 9.3.2 and we are talking about a device with a 64-bit Apple chip. Prometheus is the name of the software used to do this downgrade, but its creator has not revealed the secret behind a procedure that should be impossible to do.

For now, no one knows if this iOS 9.3.5 to iOS 9.3.2 downgrade procedure is 100% true, but if everything is real, then we are talking about a very big achievement. To downgrade, Prometheus uses the APTicker system, SHSH, and its creator says that it is ONLY compatible with 64-bit terminals.

iOS 9.3.5 to iOS 9.3.2 downgrade was performed and demonstrated

Apple has stopped signing SHSHs for iOS 9.3.2 for some time, so theoretically a downgrade would be impossible, but this method shows us that Apple is not in control. Moreover, the existence of this method for terminals with a 64-bit chip is a victory in itself, considering that they are very difficult to exploit, at least theoretically.

Apart from the need for SHSHs to be saved in advance, the hacker says that other conditions must also be met for the system to work, but of course he does not say what they would be. Practically, it was logical to need other exploitations of the operating system for this downgrade procedure to be done, but we do not know exactly what we need yet.

It is not known at the moment if this downgrade solution called Prometheus will ever be released for us, but its existence suggests that everything is possible.
