I know that many of you were expecting that iOS 10 to finally bring us the possibility to use Siri in Romanian, especially since in the summer it was discovered that macOS Sierra has texts in Romanian for Siri. Well, it seems that Apple did not consider that the Romanian language is sufficiently well understood by Siri, so it was not included in iOS 10.
Apart from the Romanian language, other languages have been discovered in Siri for macOS and none of them have been officially announced by the Apple company, so we are not alone here. Even so, the lack of support for the Romanian language in Siri is a minus that iOS has had since 2011, when Apple launched the personal assistant.
Although Romania was included in the second wave of releases for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, our country is not yet important enough to have support for Siri. Those from Apple make this very clear by not offering the possibility to say voice commands in Romanian that the Siri assistant can understand.
iOS 10 does not have Siri in Romanian
It is very likely that Apple has for some time been developing an update for Siri that would make it understand the Romanian language, along with other languages from around the world. No one knows how long it will take until we can enjoy this function, but it is possible that in 2017 we will have such functionality for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Apple does not expand Siri support for new languages until it is sure that the assistant can understand that language without problems, and in the case of Siri things are clear. If Apple has not perfected the technology so that it can understand what we say without problems, Siri will not work in Romanian, even though we can dictate words that are written by the iPhone.
I think that the process of implementing the Romanian language for Siri is coming to an end and we will have this support soon, but in the meantime we need a little more patience.
