Andromeda - Google combines Android and Chrome OS

Andromeda is not only the name of a galaxy, or the daughter of a king from Greek mythology, but also the internal code name used by Google for an extremely interesting project. More precisely, Andromeda is the internal name of the project through which Google combines Android and Chrome OS into a universal operating system.

Google wants to do exactly what Microsoft has been doing for several years, that is, to offer a universal operating system that can be installed on smartphones, tablets, or computers. With a universal operating system, Googlers could offer more functions on more types of devices, and the applications of the new operating system could be used by more people.

The first rumors regarding a possible combination of Android and Chrome OS appeared a year ago in an American publication revealing then the intentions of those from Google. Since then, a multitude of other similar information has appeared on the Internet, Andromeda now seems closer to a presentation, which will take place on October 4.

The senior vice president of the Android and Chrome OS division made it clear that on October 4 Google will not only present the new smartphones pixel, but also a possible new operating system. Based on his information and others provided by sources inside Google, it is clear that the Andromeda project will be officially announced by Google, and the launch could take place in probably 1 year.
