A Samsung tablet forced the premature landing of a plane

An overheated Samsung tablet forced the premature landing of a plane making an intercontinental flight.

A Samsung tablet that overheated during an intercontinental flight forced a Delta flight to land before reaching its destination. We are talking about a flight that left Detroit for Amsterdam, but that landed in Manchester after a Samsung tablet overheated and started to emit smoke after being stuck in a seat.

The tablet got stuck inside the folding seat, and due to overheating, it would have generated such a high temperature that the foam of the seat would have started to burn, emitting a strange smoke. At that moment the captain of the plane made the decision to land at the nearest airport, which is the one in Manchester, where the problem was solved.

In Manchester, it took two hours for the entire seat to be changed, and here we are not talking about the Galaxy Note 7, as I already told you, but about a Samsung tablet. Delta representatives did not provide more details about the incident, and Samsung refused to provide others, so we are left with what you have below.

It is hard to say if the simple overheating of the tablet could have generated that burning of the seat foam, or if its battery exploded and caused sparks that ignited the said foam. Regardless of the situation, this is the second incident in a week where a Samsung product has caused panic on a plane, with a Galaxy Note 2 having problems with an exploded battery on a plane flying over India.
