A recent study by the company Google reveals the fact that Romania is the country where most purchases are made using mobile phones. According to the American company, Romanians buy more products online from their smartphone than any other European country, and this in the conditions where online commerce appeared here later than in other markets.
According to Google, 11% of Romanians at least 16 years old who use mobile internet, bought a laptop from a smartphone, 9% bought clothes from mobile terminals. In the case of Great Britain, the percentage is 8% for laptops and 11% for clothes or shoes, the difference between the two countries being small in both cases.
Those from Google obtained the results by carrying out 400 questionnaires for the sales of laptops and articles of clothing or shoes. Internet users aged at least 16 who bought the respective products participated in this study, so we are talking about data collected directly from the buyers.
Google: Romania is the country with the most mobile purchases
The large number of online purchases using a smartphone is also based on a substantial increase in the number of people who own a smartphone. According to Google, 72% of the population at least 16 years old use the mobile internet on their smartphone, so we are talking about a very large market for online stores.
"We compare ourselves to advanced countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, Germany or Great Britain. In the UK, around 64% of purchases made online in the first quarter were made from mobile apps, according to a recent study. We are talking about a very advanced country from this perspective (in terms of online and electronic commerce - ed.). From this point of view, it is clear that Romanians have a very large appetite for smartphone use."
Finally, Google estimates that 4.2 million smartphones will be sold in Romania this year, so there is enough room for online sales to grow.
