Spotify brings malware to users' computers

The ads displayed in the free version of Spotify contain malware that automatically opens unwanted web pages on users' computers.

The free version of Spotify for computers, the one that displays ads to allow you to listen to music for free, comes bundled with malware, unfortunately. Many users from abroad have discovered that the Spotify application for Mac or PC includes advertisements that have malware and open various websites in browsers.

The problem is not a new one for those at Spotify, they went through a similar situation a few years ago, when the same ads gave them trouble with malware. Basically, the ads contain a code that automatically opens various web pages in the users' browsers, generating money for the hackers who created them and exploit the vulnerabilities.

Considering that we are talking about advertisements displayed in the Spotify application, which cannot be blocked, users have no other solution but not to use the application now. Spotify announced that it has a team of engineers investigating the problem, but those ads must be deleted by the advertising service providers for the Spotify company.

Spotify offers this free version for those who do not want to pay a monthly subscription to listen to the music available on its platform. In exchange for being free, users see various ads while using the application, a compromise that many prefer instead of paying just a few dollars a month for the service.
