Facebook Messenger will reduce data consumption

Facebook Messenger will have a new function designed to substantially reduce data consumption generated while using the application.

Facebook will implement it in the application Facebook Messenger a new function that will certainly be appreciated by users from all over the world. We are talking about a function that aims to substantially reduce data consumption while using the Facebook Messenger application, it is currently being tested in the version for the Android operating system.

According to those who test the new function, those from Facebook have practically implemented a restriction on the automatic download of content when the user uses a mobile data connection. In this idea, pictures and video clips will no longer be downloaded and displayed automatically to users, but they will have to select any file they want to be downloaded.

The change is a very good one, because now the files are downloaded automatically regardless of their size, generating high data consumption in the process. Moreover, even if now Facebook Messenger does not tell us how much data traffic the application generates, the implementation of the new function will also provide us with a counter of this kind.

Facebook Messenger will reduce data consumption

WhatsApp Messenger has had a system of this kind implemented by WhatsApp for a very long time, so it was normal to expect a similar functionality in Facebook Messenger. Considering that many people use the application daily and do not know how much data traffic it generates, the implementation of this function is auspicious.

Of course, Facebook Messenger will not have this function in the immediate future, but we can expect it to be officially launched in an update next month. There is a possibility that Facebook will initially implement the functionality in the version for Android and only later in the version for iOS, so we might have to wait until we can use it.

What do you think about offering this function for our iDevices?
