Hundreds of Galaxy Note 7 customers give Samsung a verdict

527 Samsung customers have decided to take the company to court due to the Galaxy Note 7 problems, asking for compensation.

527 customers who bought the Galaxy Note 7 from South Korea have decided to sue Samsung and demand compensation from the company. We are talking about a collective lawsuit filed with the help of some law firms, those from Samsung having extremely big problems even in the way they started their activity.

Unlike US lawsuits where far fewer clients are asking for millions of dollars in damages, South Korean clients are asking for only $440 per person. The amount is an initial one and represents costs for the necessary expenses for transportation to the stores to replace the devices, but also for the hours lost with the data transfer.

In a simple calculation, those from Samsung would have to pay only 232.000 dollars for the problems generated by the customers, much less than the lawsuits in the USA. However, if these customers will ask for more money, or the judges will establish other amounts as compensation, Samsung could have to pay up to 10 times more for the Galaxy Note 7 defect.

Separately from the previously mentioned reasons, the customers who are suing Samsung claim that the $440 amount also includes damages for the psychological trauma they went through while using a smartphone that could explode at any moment due to the defective battery used by the company Samsung.

"We are filing a lawsuit not to ask for hundreds of millions of won in punitive damages like in the United States. We are demanding fair compensation for the simple damage that consumers have suffered."

Considering that the process was initiated for a very short time, it is difficult to say what kind of result it will have in the end, Samsung may still lose. Its initiation could still give courage to other Samsung customers to join those who participate at the moment, and the total amount regarding the compensations could increase.
