Apple is developing iMessage for Android

At the beginning of this year, the first rumors began regarding Apple's intentions to develop an Android version of the iMessage platform. More specifically, Apple has been thinking for some time to offer iMessage including on the Android platform and has created a concept of the application, some having the material design used by Google in Android.

Although it was rumored that iMessage for Android would be launched during WWDC 2016, in the end Apple did not have the application ready for launch. An Apple company manager stated that the exclusivity of iMessage on iOS keeps many users on the iPhone or iPad, but that does not mean that eventually an application for Android will not be launched.

Although now Apple does not seem willing to offer iMessage on Android as well, a series of concepts of such an application have been distributed within the Apple company. They presented an iMessage application for Android that had a material design and looked extremely interesting, it was going to be launched in the end for the Google platform.

It is very difficult to say how many people are on the iOS platform just for iMessage and I don't think that Apple is winning enormously considering the options available on the market. Moreover, iMessage is now a source of income for the Apple company, and expanding its availability could generate new sources of income for those in Cupertino.

"I've heard from little birdies that mockups of iMessage for Android have circulated within the company, with varying UI styles ranging from looking like the iOS Messages app to pure Material Design."

We don't know how long it will take for Apple to launch iMessage on the Android platform, but at one point or another, it will be available.
