The difference compared to the iPhone 7 Plus is the smallest according to analysts from IHS, and this is normal, considering the close dimensions and components with similar prices.
Google Pixel XL has a selling price of 769 dollars, so the difference of 484 dollars represents Google's profit, but also the costs for development, distribution, software, etc. Basically, Google manages to obtain a cost margin as good as that of Apple, and this is not within the reach of any smartphone manufacturer.
Google launched Pixel and Pixel XL as direct rivals of the iPhone series developed by Apple and it seems that in terms of production they are equal. And the profit obtained by the Google company from this smartphone should be close to that of Apple, but we will see this only in a few months, after there will be estimates regarding these aspects.
