At the beginning of this week, the Apple company announced that it is organizing a shopping day on its website, on the day when the rest of the retailers organize Black Friday. Everyone understood that in fact Apple offers Black Friday 2016 discounts for its own products, and in Australia and New Zealand these have now become available.
Those who hoped to receive discounts on the prices of Apple products, are actually living in a dream world, because Apple does not offer discounts on products, but gift cards. In Australia, for example, Apple offers gift cards with values of 35 - 200 Australian dollars, so the customer still has to pay the full price and use the gift card for something else.
In the characteristic style of the Apple company, these gift cards cannot be used to buy at a reduced price the products launched this fall, i.e. iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2, or the new MacBook Pro. Instead, they are only good for buying the old products that Americans still have for sale, and the world will most likely be upset.
