Fitbit will buy Pebble, dissolve the brand

Fitbit will buy the Pebble company, but unfortunately it intends to sell the products under its own brand, Pebble's will disappear from the market.

Fitbit wants to buy Pebble for "nothing", or at least that's what sources with knowledge of the negotiations carried out by the two companies claim. Both companies have problems with sales in the wearables market, especially since the Apple Watch was launched, so Fitbit wants to make an investment that will make it stronger.

The price paid for Pebble will be small, around 34-40 million dollars, because the company's sales are small and the brand does not have that much value, so Fitbit could make an extremely good deal. The bad part is that the Pebble brand is going to disappear, those from Fitbit being mainly interested in Pebble's patents, but also in the operating system for the smartwatch.

In this idea, Fitbit will "swallow" all Pebble products and resell them under its own brand, practically making the brand invisible, something that many will probably regret. Of course, this ending was expected by many people, considering that Pebble has had financial problems for some time and despite the funds raised this year, it has not recovered.

However, the amount of 34-40 million dollars is the lowest compared to the 740 million dollars that Citizen was willing to pay in 2015. Intel had made an offer of 70 million dollars at the beginning of this year, but in the end Pebble will be sold for half of this amount to a company that will destroy the brand.

Pebble was one of the innovative smartwatches, managing to collect tens of millions of dollars from customer donations, also setting donation records for Kickstarter. Unfortunately, this did not help the company to keep Pebble products on sale, although there are many customers around the world who enjoy these products.

Having said that, we will soon talk about Pebble in the past, and those from Fitbit will represent the future of the company. What do you think about this sale?
