Some MacBook Pros with Touch Bar turn themselves off during use

If you think that the problems of random shutdowns only affect iPhone terminals, well, the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar shuts down by itself during use. Apple refuses to comment on this problem of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, but it seems that it has to do with external HDDs connected via Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C.

It seems that users who try to copy a lot of files of a very large total size find themselves with their MacBook Pros shutting down during the process. Testing the problem, a blogger discovered that if he connected a single HDD via Thunderbolt 3, the problem did not occur, nor if he connected all USBs to a USB hub connected to a single USB-C port.

The problem is not only manifested in situations where several HDDs are connected to multiple ports of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Some users who have only one HDD connected have noticed that their MacBook Pros randomly shut down while performing backups via Time Machine, so also during data copying.

However, the constant seems to be related to the data flow direction, that is, a copy from the internal SSD to an external storage medium is done without problems. Copying from the external storage medium to the SSD generates sudden shutdowns, and here the Apple company must discover the cause of these problems reported by quite a lot of people.

In my testing, my system appears to be stable when a single external drive is connected to one Thunderbolt 3 port or when multiple drives are connected to a powered USB hub that is plugged into a single port. But I eventually get a crash whenever I have multiple drives connected to multiple ports directly on the MacBook Pro. The issue appears to be related to whole drives; most of my drives have multiple partitions, which doesn't seem to matter.

Those at Apple do not seem to consider this to be a problem encountered by many people, so it is hard to say if Apple is investigating it so far. From the moment these problems appeared in the press, it is clear that Apple will begin to focus on solving these problems and will probably have a lot of "dealing" with them.
