Apple Music has 20 million subscribers

Apple Music is one of the largest audio streaming services available worldwide, now having over 20 million subscribers. We are talking about an increase of 3 million subscribers compared to the figure announced by the Apple company in September, the Apple company adding 1 million subscribers each month.

Here we are talking about 20 million subscribers who pay to use Apple Music monthly, the number being halved compared to that of Spotify, at the moment. Apple Music was launched many years after Spotify and managed to quickly recover "ground", but for now it is very far from equaling Spotify when it comes to the number of subscribers.

Praising Apple Musiv, Apple vice president Eddy Cue spoke about rapper Chance, who is the first with a digital-only album to be nominated for a Grammy Award. Chance reached the Billboard top 10 based only on the online listenings recorded by his songs, and here we are talking about a real achievement for audio streaming services.

In 2016, Spotify grew by 12 million customers, while only Apple Music grew by 10 million customers. We are talking about a fairly small difference between the two audio streaming services, but overall, those from Spotify have double the number of subscribers, which is constantly growing at the moment.

"It's been quite a year. We were thrilled to see that we could take [artists'] passions and drive them all the way to No. 1. Chance the Rapper, who we put on Apple Music exclusively, hit the top 10 on the Billboard charts [based on streams alone ], and I can't recall that being done before."
