Facebook Messenger makes group video calls

Facebook Messenger will make group video calls starting today, the American company officially announcing the new functionality for users around the world. Rumored for release since last week, the new feature for Facebook Messenger allows users to make video calls in groups of up to 6 people, with 50 others who can talk to them.

Unlike Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts allows the creation of video calls in groups of up to 25 people, while Skype has set a limit of 10 people for group video calls. Facebook Messenger still has more users than both competing platforms, so it will definitely have more people interested in the feature.

Facebook Messenger has been making video calls for a very long time, so the integration of the option to make them in groups is an important evolution. Now Facebook Messenger allows several people to chat with each other while they can see each other, this is practically the "star" function of Skype, but it will pale in front of the popularity of Facebook Messenger.

The new function for group calls will be launched through an update of the application dedicated to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, it will be available during this day. The update will also be offered for Android, so users will be able to make video calls in groups regardless of which social media platform they use for this functionality.
