Manipulating Apple and Samsung for positive product reviews

What most journalists, bloggers or popular YouTubers have known for some time, is explained in detail by one of them in the video clip below. This is one of the ways in which Apple, Samsung, and ANY manufacturer of mobile terminals, computers, cars, blah blah, manipulate journalists, bloggers or YouTubers in order to have positive product reviews.

We are talking here about one of the methods, that is, giving priority access to the products that are to be launched on the market, so that all these people give them positive reviews. Apple, Samsung and the rest of the manufacturers choose only those people who give good reviews for the products and give them priority access to them to present the news they bring to the whole world.

Although all these people are not paid by Apple, Samsung, etc., to make good reviews, they are constrained by the exclusivity they have. More precisely, if the reviews are not up to the producers' expectations, i.e. they do not praise the products as they should, those who deviate from the "producers' requirements" are excluded from the list of those who receive the products before the launch, or are invited at conferences, etc.

Manipulating Apple and Samsung for positive product reviews

There are many publications that have been excluded from the list of those who receive products for review before launch, or who are invited to conferences, because they also presented the negative parts of some products, and many are afraid to do so. Having an extremely popular product before launch can bring you a lot of publicity because people will be very interested in seeing the information.

The producers are not necessarily interested in offering the products to those who have a very large audience, because they are aware that the materials will anyway be promoted by those who do not have the products. In this idea, the producers are looking for people who can present their products in the best possible way so that they sell, even if in the end the respective products have very big problems.

We are not talking about an interdependent relationship here, because producers can always find various people to promote their products, so those who receive them exclusively are forced to do a "good job" for the producer, otherwise they risk not receiving anything in return future.

What is explained in the clip above has also been valid in Romania for years and years, the working method being even more aggressive than it seems. Basically, if you receive a product for review and do not present it in a good light, you will never receive another product from that manufacturer, no matter how large your audience is. If you are paid to do that review, then in extremely rare cases the company will accept more criticisms in the final material.

In Romania, many of the reviews are made by people who want to be part of the producers' attention in the future, so the information presented is not always and completely objective, unfortunately. Even abroad, things are no different, and every time you see a review for a product made before its launch, you should ask yourself what percentage of the information presented there is true.

All these problems are old and do not only apply to gadget or car manufacturers, but also to mobile phone operators, or companies that develop software, and they will not disappear too soon, because the manipulation must continue.
