Berlin terrorist used Telegram to chat with ISIS

The terrorist who attacked the Christmas market in Berlin used the Telegram Messenger application to talk to ISIS and plan the attack.

This week there was a bloody attack in Berlin, a truck driven by a terrorist hitting dozens of people present at one of the Christmas markets in the German capital. The terrorist involved in the attack, named Anis Amri, has not yet been caught by the police, but the authorities have still discovered some important information regarding the planning of this attack.

According to the American authorities, who had Anis Amri on a list prohibiting him from flying to the USA, the young man would have discussed at least once with ISIS representatives through the Telegram Messenger application. Anis Amri also looked for information on the Internet that would teach him how to make bombs, as he was also known to the authorities as a potential terrorist risk.

However, the case of Anis Amri and the attack in Berlin again bring into discussion the problems that the authorities have with the monitoring of messaging applications. The Telegram Messenger application is constantly used by terrorists to have discussions with ISIS representatives, or just between them, the same being the case with many attacks.

The authorities have repeatedly stated that many attacks have been planned through Telegram Messenger in recent years, and the case of Anis Amri is just one of the many reported so far. Of course, the authorities cannot intercept Telegram Messenger conversations, and this case puts even more pressure on those who support maintaining the encryption of these services.

Unfortunately, although people's privacy is important, terrorists take advantage of this to plan attacks without the authorities being able to intercept them.
