iPhone 2G can no longer be used on the US AT&T network

Almost 10 years after it was officially launched for the USA, the iPhone 2G can no longer be used on the American soil in the network of one of the largest mobile operators. More precisely, AT&T shut down the 2G network in the US, the only one where iPhone 2G can work, and that tells us a lot about how things have evolved.

Those from AT&T planned this closure for 4 years before it took effect, so there are no customers who did not know about it in advance. It is not known how many Americans still use mobile phones that only work on a 2G network, but their number is probably very small, otherwise AT&T would not have acted in this way.

Although the AT&T network is constantly criticized because of signal problems, the 3G and 4G networks seem to have more extensive and better coverage at the operator. Theoretically, the same thing could be said even in our country, but here there are still areas where even a 3G network cannot be used due to poor coverage, so we will not see something like this very soon.

By closing the 2G network, those from AT&T say that they can now use the released spectrum to implement the 5G networks that customers will use in the future. Separately, another part will be allocated for the expansion and improvement of the LTE network in the US, so Americans will have a better signal from this point of view.
